What is MOSO Bamboo?

Moso is the most common source of bamboo timber. It is the largest of all running bamboo yet has tiny leaves. Around Anji county in the Zhejiang province in China, hillsides are covered with velvet green Moso. This variety of giant Moso bamboo is not food or habitat for pandas and this exclusively wild giant Moso Bamboo is used for our bamboo razor handles. No pesticides or fertiliszers are ever used on wild mountain bamboo as it grows naturally., The bamboo is never watered and relies only on natural mountain rain. Our factory is harvesting less than 1% of the possible resources available in the local Chinese bamboo mountain range.

How is it Organic?

We’ve created a high quality easy-to-grip curved handle made entirely out of organic bamboo. The bamboo produced by our Factory is certified 100% organic. Before carving, the bamboo is boiled in water and dried in a heated oven which is powered by waste from the bamboo carving process in a sustainable cycle, chemical-free and natural. Bamboo is biodegradable, naturally antibacterial, and one of the most sustainable resources on Earth. Only wild, giant Moso Bamboo is used for our bamboo razor handles.

Given that you’re harvesting bamboo, what about panda welfare?

We use Moso bamboo to make our razor handles. Pandas eat 42 species of bamboo, but Moso bamboo is not one of them. So this type of bamboo is not food for pandas, nor do pandas inhabit the area where we harvest.

How do you recycle the blades?

Razor blades are made from recyclable metals but you cannot recycle them with your household items. In fact, in some places , it’s actually illegal to recycle razor blades. Why? Because razors can harm the sanitation workers and animals that come into contact with them. They are also very thin, so they easily get caught in recycling equipment and cause damage. You can’t recycle razor blades, but you can’t just toss them in the regular trash either. We have found a way to dispose of them safely in an industrial facility in Sydney.

Every time you order from us, you’ll get a return postage bag and once you done with your blades send them back to us for free, we will recycle it and save it from landfill. Once we receive the cartridges, we will deconstruct them by separating the plastic from the metal and recycle them at the Community Recycling Centres (CRCs). CRCs are permanent drop-off centres for common problem wastes that can’t be collected via council kerbside waste and recycling collection services.
